From the very beginning, the KURT exhibit brings viewers face-to-face with its subject as he was most commonly presented by the media: the exhibit opens with a series of seven photos from Charles Peterson, showing an obviously intoxicated Kurt Cobain in the process of falling over and upsetting a drum set. Another photo of a more flamboyantly-dressed Cobain, taken at Seattle’s Pier 48 during the 1993 broadcast of MTV’s Live and Loud event, reminds us of the man as the media typically presented him. Walking into the Seattle Art Museum has never been so fun. As you walk up to the front door, you can’t help but notice a line of a few hundred “Seattle” branded people waiting to get in the door. Although this particular SAM REMIX party sold out, there was a fair amount of people with leftover tickets hovering around the front door. You couldn’t help but notice a fair amount of people dressed in wigs which is hardly a rare thing but there were just enough to notice some sort …

So after learning that there are two bars named “Taste” in downtown Seattle and completely missing my party (sorry guys, I promise I didn’t ditch you on purpose!), I found myself left exploring the First Thursday art exhibits by myself. As a result of my lateness, I didn’t really get past the Seattle Art Museum, but that’s alright, because it had plenty to entertain me for an hour and a half while I lost track of time.
