The Heligoats and Clem Snide @ Tractor Tavern on May 19

The Tractor Tavern has been the host of many alt-country/folk/indie bands, and I love to hear a genre that is sometimes ignored by some of the “indie” press. The Heligoats, one of the openers for Clem Snide on Wednesday at Tractor Tavern, did not fail to represent an indie-fied New Country that I definitely like. The banjo pickin’ that complemented frontman Chris Otepka’s Bellingham snarl was delightfully twangy, and the band put on a strong show. The Physics “Three Piece” Available for Download

Support local. Know local. That’s the Seattle Scenester way. Personally, I love Seattle’s fast growing local hip-hop scene and The Physics is one of the main reasons why.

The music that once reigned supreme on MTV has been missing for many years; those that still watch the channel are victim to all sorts of reality dramas and enough ads to fill Times Square in less than an hour.  According to MTV exec. David Gale, this is not the path the network plans to continue down.  When he spoke at the screening of “$5 Cover: Seattle” he stressed how this series reflects MTV’s interest in putting the focus back on music.
