Dusk off those bikes, grab your I.D., and ride down to Via Triunali‘s for happy hour between 5pm and 7pm for their signature Margherita happy hour pizza. There’s a catch, each one of the 5 Via Tribunali’s store locations are included in the free pizza deal, but only one store location will be playing sponsor each Wednesday starting with Georgetown’s location on May 12th, and ending the Tour Of Seattle at Fremont’s store location on June 9th.
The idea? Raising funds for our local biking community with the help …

For those of you new Sasquatch-going kids, we thought it would be smart to put together a “How to Survive Sasquatch” piece because of its rather tumultuous nature.
Last year, it was hotter than hell and absolutely beautiful. I was more sun-burnt that weekend than any other weekend of the summer. However, three years ago was the infamous shit-show hail storm when it rained down golf ball size hail for over an hour. The fact of the matter is that you’ll never know what to expect for weather. I promise you …

Seattle Scenester takes pride in Seattle’s arts, music, food & drink, and non-profits and these are the foundation of the mission and vision. So, what better event to attend than a night capturing some of the best of all of these in the same room?
Blank Canvas, a Seattle non-profit, is an organization with a wide array of ideas collaborating art, Seattle artists, and other non-profits. For four years, Kristen Young, Executive Director of Blank Canvas, has been throwing annual events hosting teams of artists and non-artists that join …

I’ve been living in Seattle since September and have spent the last 8 months learning my surroundings in this big, beautiful city that has so much to offer. Coming from a background in non-profit social services, I was so excited at the opportunity to write non-profit profiles for Scenester and to learn what Seattle has to offer individuals and families in need. In just a few short months I have realized that Seattle is not just a city full of talented musicians and artists, but also a city full of …

In March of 2009, Shout Out Louds gathered in Stockholm after a brief break to get back to work. The recording of Shout Out Louds’ third album began just outside of Seattle in August of 2009 with the first non-Swede producer to spin with Shout Out Louds, Seattle’s Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Throw Me The Statue, Built To Spill) on their 2010 LP, Work. The video for Work’s first single, “Walls”, produced by SOL bass player and Swedish Grammy Winner, Ted Malmros, was shot in Seattle with glimpses of …

From the RoboPop! press release from Washington Ensemble Theatre, the show is described as:
“An exuberant kaleidoscope of pop that follows one woman’s heroic quest to save the human race in an epic battle of Man vs. Robot where love is her downfall and ultimate savior… this performance piece delivers imaginative and heartfelt storytelling like only Washington Ensemble Theatre can.”
However, audiences who have attended the show so far have called it “unlike anything I’ve ever seen” and one was quoted as saying “If you don’t see this show, there is clearly something …

In an effort to support local Seattle artists, Northwest Film Forum (NWFF) has created a new series of live events called, “Live at the Film Forum.” The most recent performance in this series is from local Seattle choreographer and dancer, Amy O’Neal. To be a part of this series, NWFF asks local artists to create a live performance that somehow includes elements of film.
For Amy, combining dance with film was the obvious choice. However, the way one combines these two forms is not so easy. …

Non-Profit of the Month
If you live in Seattle and are the least bit aware of your surroundings, you’ve probably seen them. Perhaps, like me, you quietly ignored them for awhile, pretending not to notice, or faking a text conversation to avoid eye contact. Some of them are solemn and gentle, others are a little more boisterous. I think of the vendor on 2nd and Pike with a loud booming voice “REAL CHANGE….get your REAL CHANGE”.
After living here for a few months I couldn’t avoid them much longer. They were everywhere …

The music that once reigned supreme on MTV has been missing for many years; those that still watch the channel are victim to all sorts of reality dramas and enough ads to fill Times Square in less than an hour. According to MTV exec. David Gale, this is not the path the network plans to continue down. When he spoke at the screening of “$5 Cover: Seattle” he stressed how this series reflects MTV’s interest in putting the focus back on music.
To accomplish this goal, MTV doesn’t plan on going …
